In 2013 fomer Global Marketing Director Jerry Engström bought the area now known as FriluftsByn and envisioned a careful growth of a center comitted to the balance of nature, creativity and community.
With the help of family, friends, partners in the Outdoor Industry and the Outdoor Collective, FriluftsByn has taken its first steps to become a place for inner and outer discovery for people from all over the world.
After many years as global marketing director travelling all over the world Jerry decided it was time for a change.
The dream was to create a place he had been longing for himself, in the area he was born – the High Coast of Sweden.
After having contributed to create some of Scandinavias strongest brands and been awarded Sweden´s best Marketing Director Jerry decided to change his lifestyle and create the hub he had been missing.
Gathering family and friends the jouney started and today the passion FriluftsByn has been featured in everything from The Guardian to the The New York Times and FriluftsByn has been awarded Swedens most innovative destination by the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket).
The idea behind FriluftsByn was and still is to carefully balance nature, creativity and community.
The open community with the mission to ”Open Minds and Touch Hearts” is called the Outdoor Collective.
The Architecture Festival ARKNAT is just one of may FriluftsByn collaborations.
The music camp ”Sounds Like Sweden” is another way of combining nature and creativity.

FriluftsByn is an evolving passion and change form depending on seasons. During summer it is the High Coasts most popular hang out for people who love to combine adventures and chilling by the campfire. During the rest of the year FrilulftsByn arrange some of Europes most popular adventures and variety of festivals.

Stunning nature experiences. Go hiking, kayaking from the High Coat Kayak Center or climb Via Ferrata

Every year FriluftsByn team up with outdoor companies to arrange some of Europes most popular adventures and outdoor festivals.
